The suffix "-T" in the Gotoh bridge part number GE103B-T signifies larger modern posts. This is a modern version of the Tune-O-Matic bridge, built by Gotoh:

  • Notches in the saddles for precise string spacing
  • Larger M8 (8mm) threaded posts, which screw into included metal bushings anchored to body wood
  • Wider Nashville width 14mm (vintage was 11mm), giving more room to move the saddles back and forth, allowing for finer intonation adjustments and making it easier to adjust for different string gauges and tuning setups
  • Posts spacing 74mm
  • Saddles top radius 300mm (~12")
  • String spacing 5x 10.4mm

According to the guitar design, this bridge will be complemented by either a Tailpiece behind the bridge, or String Bushings, see Related Products.

ABR-1 vs. Nashville Bridges

The ABR-1 bridge is the original Tune-O-Matic design, with a narrower 11mm width and slim posts that screw directly into the guitar body without bushings. This setup provides a more vintage tone and aesthetic, favored by traditionalists.

The Nashville bridge is a modernized version with a wider 14mm design and thicker posts anchored into metal bushings in the guitar body. This updated build offers increased stability, sustain, and easier intonation adjustments, making it a practical choice for contemporary players.

Vintage Posts versus Modern Posts

Vintage posts are smaller, threaded posts that screw directly into the guitar body wood. The originals used #6-32 US threads, though today an M4 metric equivalent is often used. A matching thumbwheel screws onto these posts, allowing the bridge to sit on it and move up or down as the thumbwheel is turned. In this setup, the posts remain fixed and do not rotate when adjusting the bridge height.

Modern posts are typically larger M8 metric posts, which screw into metal bushings anchored in the guitar body. Here, the thumbwheel is integrated into the post itself, so the post rotates when adjusting the bridge height.
